After breakfast, we all set off to catch the bus to Dahlem, for our look at a small district Christmas market.

We went into the market and had our first taste of Glu-wein , which was essential to counteract the freezing cold weather. There was a great variety of goods on display and we bought some wild garlic (together with a recipe book) and sampled some delicious cold meats.

Barbara took Jonas back home, while Heinz then took us for a trip on the U-Bahn to the centre of Berlin, where we walked to Charlottenburg market. We enjoyed a traditional Austrian meal in a very crowded portacabin and then walked around all the market stalls savouring the atmosphere and the smells of cooking coming from all quarters. After some more Glu-Wein and other snacks, we then returned to the U-Bahn, changed to the S-Bahn and went back to the house after a full day.
