We rose early, finished our packing, and took the cases down to the car.
We called into the restaurant well before 8:00 and discovered that all the buffet table had already been laid out, so we were able to start our breakfast early. this meant a more leisurely approach and exactly on time at 8:30 we were down at the car ready to depart.
Inma had just arrived for work so more fond farewells, and we headed off on our way back to Malaga airport with an estimated journey time of 90 minutes.
The roads were generally clear, but there was the odd slow moving vehicle that was difficult to overtake and the inevitable steep hill, which our little car struggled climbing.
About 30 km out from Malaga we stopped to fill up the car, so that it could be returned (nearly) full as requested.
But we were soon on our way and reached the motorway section in good time and followed the quite complicated instructions from Mrs. Garmin, who brought us safely first time into the Express parking where we had been asked to leave the car. The keys, car park ticket and petrol receipt were left in the boot and we were just about to leave, when Alison reminded Pete to look in the glove box, where he found the boarding cards and the case for the Garmin.
Straight to bag drop with no problem and fairly quickly through security, with just an hour to wait for the flight to be called. The automatic passport gates were again a little troublesome, with Pete having to try four times before being successful.
On our way through departures we bought a sandwich, as from past experience there was nothing low fat to buy on the plane. We were called early and joined the speedy queuing line while we watched all the passengers disembark and the assistance passengers embark.
We left 20 minutes late but otherwise an uneventful flight, which made up time en route but then had to stack to land at Gatwick. On arrival in North Terminal, we were some of the fortunate few not to have any problems with the e-passport gates and we were also able to use Gatwick Connect to drop our bags for our Guernsey flight from the South Terminal.
Accordingly, we went unencumbered to South terminal and straight through security, finding once again that Wagamama had an excellent choice of suitable food and a commitment to satisfy any dietary restrictions.
We made our way to the brand new domestic terminal area and joined our Aurigny flight on time, landing in Guernsey early, to be met by Charlie, who very kindly took us back home in time for us to sit on the balcony watching the sun go down.
